Russian Philosophy of Music: 2010s and 2020s Articles
About this Book
The edition is a collection of scholarly works by Alexander Klujev devoted to the Russian philosophical understanding of music. The volume brings together articles that examine music as a spiritual, cultural, ontological, educational, and therapeutic phenomenon. Special attention is given to the connection between Russian philosophy, Orthodox tradition, national memory, and the metaphysical meaning of musical art. The book analyses the ideas of Russian thinkers and cultural figures, including Nil Sorsky, Grigory Skovoroda, Vladimir Odoevsky, Pavel Florensky, Alexey Losev, Nikolay Lossky, Ivan Lapshin, and Evgeny Trubetskoy. A significant part of the collection is devoted to the author’s New Synergetic Philosophy of Music, in which music is interpreted as a high form of spiritual and cultural development. The work also discusses musical language, music therapy, church singing, Russian musical identity, and the role of music in overcoming the crisis of contemporary culture. Through historical, philosophical, theological, and musicological analysis, the book presents music as a path toward beauty, meaning, memory, and spiritual transformation. The publication is intended for philosophers, musicologists, cultural researchers, educators, students, and readers interested in Russian culture and the philosophy of music. It offers a systematic contribution to contemporary reflection on music as one of the deepest forms of human and cultural self-understanding.
